Happy Marketer share their advice to entrepreneurs selling a business

SI Partners advised Singapore-based digital marketing agency Happy Marketer on the sale to Dentsu's Merkle in early 2019.

Hear what one piece of advice CEO Rachit Dayal and MD Prantik Mazumdar would give to entrepreneurs and founders thinking about selling their business.

What advice would you give to those selling their business?

Singapore-based Happy Marketer is one of Southeast Asia’s leading data-driven marketing agencies, using data analysis to drive results-oriented customer experience and media campaigns for clients.

Having been through the sale process, what advice would these leaders give to other founders considering selling their business? And what is the process of selling a business really like?

"It is a very tough process,” comments Rachit, "It is tough emotionally, it is tough work stream wise, and it required multiple skill sets."

Build your support team

"Take all the help you can find" Rachit continues, "The most critical thing is building that team.” Prantik adds: “It is invaluable and priceless to get external help in areas you are not good at. We are extremely glad that we had excellent financial consultants and advisors in SI Partners... It allows you to focus on your core business while this process is going through.”

Focus on growth

Rachit's key message to entrepreneurs selling their business is: “If you are considering this, you don’t have to sell, just focus on the future, go on the offense, look at growth... If you stay focused on the growth, the folks around you will help structure the deal, the negotiation.”
